We are super excited to release our July episode of the Grit.org Podcast. Colby met Saman at a car show in Fernandina so for the podcast preview, Colby filmed the preview at Saman's house and got a tour of a few cars in his collection. Dr. Saman Soleymani is a physician as well as President and CEO of Avecina Medical. He is also a avid entrepreneur and exotic car enthusiast. In this video he shares his passion for cars while giving us a in depth look at 3 iconic cars - Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 SV, Lamborghini SVJ63 Roadster, and his personal favorite, the Pagani Huayra Tempesta. We had another amazing week at Grit Camp with 15 counselors and 36 campers for our third week at Jacksonville University. We had great weather again, played plenty of sports and activities, completed the Grit Combine, were inspired by the movie 'Dreamer', and heard from two of the Jacksonville University Men's Basketball coaches. We had several more campers that learned and recited this summer's quote 'The Man in the Arena' in order to earn their very own Grit Camp fanny pack worn by Grit Camp counselors.
Our Grit University interns have been working hard in the afternoon by locking down sponsors to provide financial assistance for local kids to attend camp. Colby, Jack, Kevin, and I met with the CEO of a $90 million company this past week, and they pitched him on sponsoring kids to attend camp. The pitch was done completely by the interns explaining the What, Why, and How of Grit Camp, and they ended up securing 4 spots worth of scholarships for Grit Camp! In addition to the incredible impact these Grit University guys are having on young people through camp, they are also developing invaluable communication, business, and selling skills to further enhance their learning experience this summer. This past week, we had another 7 kids attend the camp on scholarship so we are very grateful for the sponsors that helped provide that opportunity for some campers.
