Kevin Butler is the son of Sandra and Brett Butler and a graduate of Ponte Vedra highschool where he played football and basketball. He also did shotput for the track team and held a school record that stood for years. He is currently a sophomore at Stetson University and plays Offensive Line on their D-1 football team. He is studying Marketing with a minor in Psychology.
We've interviewed dozens of candidates for this position this summer, and there were many reasons we were excited to work with Kevin this summer. He is an excellent student, an extremely dedicated athlete, and has an amazing track record of exhibiting effort with a great attitude in everything he does. Also, he enjoys working with kids and has a younger brother that is currently at Landrum Middle School. He has come highly recommended by his previous coaches and mentors, and he is motivated to push himself this summer in order to bring out even more of his capability.
This summer Kevin will be working in our 10 week program and living in our headquarters with Colby during that period. His day will start with a cold shower at 5:50 followed by an intense morning working. After a healthy breakfast, he will be immersed in helping run and oversee our summer sports camp (Grit Camp) and leading over a dozen counselors and over 50 campers each week. After camp and clean shower, he and the other interns will develop their sales, marketing, and communication skills by selling corporate sponsorships to local businesses. He will in assist in some episodes of our monthly podcast (Grit.org/podcast), develop his speaking and video skills, and he will have a nightly routine of reading motivational books, journaling, and meditating. He will be off on the weekends and the week of the 4th of July and will earn a weekly salary and profit sharing.
We are super excited to have him part of our Grit family this summer, and we are honored to be ushering him along this journey to Build More Grit.
